I'm excited to learn from the amazing educators at the MACUL conference!

7th & 8th Grade History Teacher, Santa Ynez School
Santa Barbara Computer Using Educators President
Rock Star Teacher Tech Camp Central Coast Coordinator
Google Certified Teacher

Chris, father of 3 boys, is a full time history teacher who has introduced and developed several technology programs within his district. His student-lead Geek Squad built and maintains the technology resources within his district including the K-1 Open Source computer lab. Chris proposed and has successfully implemented a 1:1 netbook program that uses Open Source software, making a cost-effective and easily manageable program. Besides being a History and Technology teacher, he’s currently the President of Santa Barbara CUE, a Google Teacher Academy UK 2012 grad and a CK-12 Champion.

MACUL Concurrent Sessions:

Plan on all my Concurrent sessions to be as hands-on as a concurrent session gets.
  • What Would Google Do In Your Classroom: I love to see what my students create, but my struggle has always been managing the project process while leaving TONS of room for student creativity. I stumbled on the Agile/Scrum business process that is used by companies like Google to manage projects. In this session you'll learn how to start using this project management process in your classroom
  • A 1:1 Open Source Program -Ubermix: I wouldn't use netbooks if it wasn't for Jim Klein's Ubermix. Ubermix is an Open Source operating system customized for schools -lots of built in tools, very easy to use and it's all FREE!
  • Minecraft: World's Built for Investigative Learning. More and more my students love Minecraft
  • You've Got the Tech Now What: A session on Design Thinking
  • CK-12 Flexbooks for Flexible Learning:
  • More Than Khan, Gooru: The Search Engine for Learning.

Interview with 2 of my education heroes.
I love how my students were a part of my Google Teacher Academy video. This really was a collaboration - we blended our ideas together. So Fun!

Besides the 'really, really awesome teacher' plug. This is the stuff that reminds me of how much I love teaching.
I added this video because it has several of my education heroes. Ramsey Musallam -the most amazing Chemistry teacher I've ever met. Nicole Dalesio -the most amazing and talented photo-editing teacher. The world famous Rushton Hurley, Chris Fitzgerald Walsh, Diane Main, Elizabeth Calhoon, Kyle Brumbaugh and Mike Lawrence. When I need some inspiration these are the people I look to. Oh and if you haven't watched the Infinite Thinking Machine, I highly suggest subscribing.
